God doesn’t just want to save you, he wants to empower you.
So many of us make salvation the goal. We want to be good enough. We want God to show up in our life in a real way and so we work tirelessly to mark as many things off our religious list as we can.
Jesus’ statements about being the true vine encourage us that those who have asked Jesus to forgive them, and repented of their sins, now have good standing with God. We don’t have to fight to be good enough. Jesus is good enough in our place. It’s not about how good we are any more, it’s about whether or not we’ve decided to follow.
Stop trying to be good enough. Start being loved.
