“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”
The exclusivity of the gospel can sometimes seem offensive. Especially in a culture that is submerged in alternate facts and false news, the idea of one way being the only way seem confrontational and abrupt.
The gospel is exclusive though. It’s exclusive, not in the way that it is only for a few, but in the way that it is the only way that works. It’s like, imagine a house was to catch fire. You need to call 9-1-1 and put the fire out. That’s the answer. That’s the course forward. It’s not like you’re being rude or mean. You’re not being mean, but the way the logical path forward is to call 9-1-1.
Jesus isn’t exclusive in the sense that he doesn’t love people in other religions. He is very exclusive though in the fact that only his death, resurrection, and forgiveness can bring about restoration and healing. Redemption from our sins is only achievable through Jesus. Is inclusive in that it is for everyone, anyone who would repent and ask for forgiveness. But it is exclusive in that, Jesus is the only means through which we can receive that grace and forgiveness.
