Okay, you can’t say we didn’t warn you. This is going to come up a lot. We’re just getting started with this statement. Just imagine for a moment the scene here. God does this amazing thing for his people. He does it on three different occasions. He sees them struggling and hurting because of their sins and he continues to bring restoration, healing, and hope. Yet, every time the pressure is gone and the immediate danger subsides the people of Israel begin ever so casually drifting back. They go back into the same habits, the same false religious practices, the same complacency, and the same sin as before. They never catch on to their own broken nature and need for change.
Where in your life do you find yourself going back again, and again, and again? What do you struggle with continuously? What have you done to break this habit?
We tend to cry out to God in the worst of times and once he’s saved us we gradually meander our way back into the same lifestyle. We pick up where we left off, on the same course towards ruin, hoping things will be different this time.
Think about what changes need to be made. Are you making them?
