When we follow after Jesus and we experience his joy, we become more reasonable in the way we handle our lives, we grow more composed in the struggles and trials we face, and we’re told we find this peace. The passage actually says it’s a peace that will guard our hearts and minds.

I find myself running into the “what if” moments. Maybe it’s the introvert thing,  maybe it’s just my struggle, but I can spend more time worrying about things that might happen than I ever do about things that actually come to pass. I can get lost in a trail of what if they thought this, or what if I don’t remember this, or what if they heard that and ruin days on end. The true freedom in having peace from God is that those thoughts can be silenced. Those thoughts can be put aside as I move forward trusting him and his sovereignty.

Have you found a way to let the peace of God guard your heart and mind? Or are you still letting empty ideas and philosophy used them as a playground upon which to run and create havoc?
