1 John 5:1-5
John opens this final chapter by explaining that those “born of God” are those who believe “that Jesus is the Christ”. That love, in turn, causes us to love others in the church. And that love is a love that helps us to overcome the world with our faith in Jesus and our love for each other. It’s not a “burden” as he says it, but something we embrace as it helps us stay away from the darkness we all started in and all have a tendency to wander back towards. Our faith is what helps us overcome the world because our faith in Jesus leads us to love and cherish and share our lives with others who are in the light.
Would people describe you as a loving person? Would they think of you as someone who is caring and long suffering? Would they see you as someone ready to hand out grace? Or would they see something else?
