Judges 3:12-14

The people of Israel had fallen away from their faith and once again they “did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.” In their sinfulness, God removed his protection from the tribes and Eglon the king of Moab invaded. Parts of Israel spent 18 years in service under a foreign king as they continued to ignore who God was and what He had done for them. They ignored his commands and continued to try and work on their own.

Sometimes we sit in terrible circumstances because of our own stubbornness. We sit in unhealthy places and we allow things to linger that God wants gone because we refuse to change. We refuse to admit the hurt and find the healing. Israel lost 18 years to foreign reign when God has promised them something so much greater. Freedom was in their grasp but they stubbornly held on while everything around them got worse.

Don’t be stubborn. Be humble, repentant, and submissive to what God wants to do in your life.
