David and Jonathan had a great friendship and as David and Saul fought that friendship would help David survive. In chapter 20, David realizes that Saul is trying to have him killed and confides in Jonathan. David and Jonathan come together to see if the rumors are true and it turns out that they are indeed so.
Jonathan had to made a really hard choice. It would have been easy for him to side with his family. It would have been easy for him just go with the flow and ignore all that his dad was doing. Jonathan had to make a choice.
Doing the right thing isn’t always easy. Doing the right thing can sometimes costs you. It can sometimes take you down a rough path. It can sometimes put you at odds with people. Jonathan chose to help David, the rightful king, and it cost him. It wasn’t easy. It was what he. Needed to do though.
Are you willing to do the right thing? Are you willing to step out and do what needs to be done? Will you take your rough path, to do the things God would have you do?
