In Sharing Victories
When someone has a “victory” in life, we often say “good job”, or send a facebook message, and leave it at that. However, what people usually don’t realize is how important it is to be with someone through their victories. We know people need us when they’re hurting, but when someone accomplishes something, it is just as important to have a night out to celebrate, to call and talk, and truly enjoy that moment with them and for them. If we truly love people we aren’t just there when things blow up, we’re there when things are great too. We experience the struggles and the joys, the highs and the lows. We rejoice because they’re rejoicing and later when they mourn we will mourn with them as well. Real relationships that have real impact are not ones that come from part-time effort and situational investment, but that comes from truly being a part of what a person is going through, and that includes the mountaintops of life.
Who do you know who has a victory right now? How can you enjoy their celebration with them? How can you be just as excited for them as they are for themselves? Make sure you’re investing in someone all the time, not just when things go wrong.
