People don’t talk much about fasting. There are lots of reasons for it, but the honest and most simple answer is to seek God.
In Acts 14:23, we see the church seeking guidance from God. Trying to find men who were capable of carrying out the mission of God they prayed with men, and fasted, seeking God, so they he would bless them.
Fasting has lost its place almost in our church today, but it truly is a way to seek spiritual strength and nourishment from God. We wouldn’t advise you do these type of things without talking to a doctor first, but if you’re physically capable, fasting is truly a great way to seek God in our moments of longing and confusion for clarity.
As you abide this week, consider a fast. You can fast from food, from coffee, or whatever the Spirit moves you to, but consider taking the time to sacrifice and give up something to draw closer to God.
