Be honest with yourself –
Sometimes, because we’re blind to ourselves or because we just like the thing we’re tempted by, we lie. We pretend like it’s not an issue. We act like we’ll be okay and we find ourselves again and again falling back into the same struggles. Every weekend we get drunk, but never piece together that maybe I just shouldn’t go to those same places. Or, maybe I don’t need to be around those people. Or, maybe I shouldn’t drink at all?
When we lie to ourselves about our struggles they never get better. When we pretend like a problem isn’t a problem it usually gets a lot worse. We saw this in David’s life. He had made a huge mistake. There would have been consequences. However, he tried to lie to others about it to cover it up, he probably lied to himself about it a little as well. And in the end it almost ruined him.
Are you honest about your struggles? Do you pretend like the problem really isn’t a problem at all? The easiest way to fall back into the temptation that grabs you over and over is to act like you don’t have any issue with it at all. Be honest with yourself. What is your struggle?
