We know we should talk to Jesus in our temptation but what about him talking back? Wouldn’t it be nice to know that he doesn’t leave us hanging but wants us to succeed and wants us to overcome? Well, he does. And he tells us all over scripture. The Bible is filled with words of encouragement for those who are struggling with temptation, but if you never read your Bible how can you know it?
Looking again at Jesus’ temptation, he quoted scripture back at all of the enemy’s lies. He spoke truth instead of arguing with lies. He made clear that real strength to make it through our struggles comes from knowing and living out the word of God in our daily lives.
You can get online, type in “what does the Bible say about…..” and get immediate text for whatever you’re struggling with at the moment. It’s easy really. And, in a pinch, that honestly works. But in the moment, it’s the word of God that we’d poured over and lived that helps us to know in our struggles that he stays true.
