It’s hard to trust God in the unexpected. It’s hard to see circumstances you may not want and still believe he is faithful. Those can be the times that are most tempting to us. We way to take charge. We want to rip our lives out of his hands and back into our own control. We don’t want the unexpected anymore.

In the Old Testament, that’s why God was always reminding his people of all that he had done. Countless times God would remind them that he was the God of Abraham. He was the God of Jacob. He was the God who parted the Red Sea. He was the God that gave them the promised land. He was the God who handed their enemies over to them time and time again. He was faithful.

Maybe you struggle trusting God. Maybe you struggle with remembering that he is faithful. Can I encourage you today to take some time and think about all that he has gotten you through up until this point. Count the blessings that we sometimes so quickly forget. Remind yourself of his history of coming through. God is faithful. Sometimes we just aren’t patient enough when things get unexpected.
