Let go of the things holding you back.
I watched a video once about a guy who was walking his kid through the mall. The kid saw a toy stand with some cheap toys on it and started begging for one of the stupid little flashy things on the kiosk stand. The dad, unknown to the boy, was already planning to take him to the toy store ahead and let him pick out a new toy but the boy was fascinated by the flashing lights. He started screaming and crying because he wanted one, not knowing why his father was pulling him away and refusing to give him what he wanted. The father had something better ahead, the boy was just too distracted to see it.
We cling to things, don’t we? We see something we want, we think we need, we think we have to have and cling to it. We then get angry with God when it doesn’t come quick enough, when he says no, we can’t have it, or even worse it leaves us. We get distracted by things, we cling to them, and we miss what God is really doing.
What in your life are you struggling to let go of today? What have you and God been arguing about? What have you been clinging to that God wants you to release so that he can bring you something greater?
