Ruth 4: 18-21
At the end of this amazing little book we see that Ruth, Naomi, Boaz, and actually the entire world. Ruth’s dedication, hard work, and faith led her to a man with character integrity, and respect, and from that we see a grandson born named David. As we study more of the Old Testament together we’ll see that this young boy played a major role in what God was doing in the world. He was such an important part that God promised the Messiah, Jesus would eventually come from his children. It would take about a thousand years for this promise to come true, but when it did the world was never the same.
It’s crazy to stop and think back to where we first met Ruth. She was a poor, Moabite woman who came from a terrible family, married into a not much better situation, and left with nothing but God to cling to as she tried to find a better life. God used this mess to make something beautiful.
Wherever your story may be, wherever you may be coming from, the most amazing message of Ruth’s life is that anyone can have value when they are give their life fully to him. When we act with integrity, faithfulness, and humility, God can take any story and make it into one of real change.
