Be personable. It’s crazy that we have to say that, but we do. Sometime people get to eager about being a part of what God’s doing that they go over the top. They try to stuff Jesus into every conversation. They enter a conversation looking for an opportunity to proselytize instead of an opportunity to love. They look for a way to stuff Jesus into the situation instead of looking for a way to love that person.
This is one personal reason why I don’t do gospel tracks. There is nothing WRONG with them, and the gospel is great enough that people do get saved through them, but we’re called not only to share the gospel of Jesus Christ but his love as well. I want to spend time with someone. I want to get to know them. I want them to see my faith lived out as much a they hear it spoken.
Philip rode a while with the Eunuch. It’s something most people miss. He jumped right up with him and they went on a drive together talking about the gospel. He didn’t throw truth and run away. He went with him a while.
We’ve got to avoid the mistake of being more interested in sharing the gospel than we are in living the gospel.
