Sometimes our past can weigh us down. We know who we’ve been and we know what we’ve done and it’s easy to feel like we can’t be used because of it. It’s easy to feel like maybe I’ve done too much in my past for God to use me.
The apostle Paul had to feel this way. He was a guy who actually tried to kill people for following Jesus until he ended up following him himself. In the moment God called him to preach the gospel I can only imagine all the doubt and insecurity Paul must have felt. Yet, God told him to preach anyways.
Later, Paul explained that the reason God saved him, a chief among sinners, was to show everyone that if God could use a fool like Paul, just imagine what he wants to do in you. Your past doesn’t disqualify you. Your past just shows how great God’s grace truly is.
