Psalm 9:1

It’s easy to praise God with part of your heart. It’s easy to give anything part of your heart. That’s safe. That’s salvageable if things go bad. No, that’s an entirely different thing. That’s scary. That’s vulnerable, that’s true worship.

We like to give God parts of ourselves. We’ll give him our marriage, and our money maybe, and even a few hours of our weekend, but everything? That’s entirely different. Yet, that’s what God asks from us.

Just like your wife and kids don’t want you to kind of love them, they want you to love them with everything, so God wants our relationship with him to be greater. He wants our whole hearts.

He gave us his life so that he could simply have our hearts.
