This week we’re going to be taking a look at some of the wonderful effects of the Resurrection and the hope that it provides us. This week’s devotions come from Crossroads Bible College.
Load-bearing walls support the weight of the house. You don’t take those down, because if you do the house will come tumbling down. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the load-bearing wall of Christianity. If you take the resurrection of Jesus Christ out, all of Christianity comes tumbling down.
Paul says it like this in his letter to the Corinthian church:
“But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain…. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:14-17).
Because of the resurrection, we have an incredible hope. And at the close of the Gospel of Mark, we see four wonderful effects of our incredible hope through the story of the people around the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
