We’re given approval.
We spend a good part of our life seeking approval. We look for it from parents, from friends, from lovers, from employers, and with the new social media world, we even look for it from strangers. We want the hits, we want the likes, we want to be approved because approval equates to love. And we all really want to be loved.
The beauty of the gospel is, even when we didn’t realize how bad we needed his love, he gave it to us. The longing for approval and acceptance we face is really a desire to be loved and approved in God’s eyes. The gospel tells us that, even though we don’t deserve it, didn’t earn it, and can’t ever make up for it, God gives us his love and approval. One passage tells us that there is no condemnation for those who follow Jesus.
You have been given approval. You’ve been accepted no matter what. Do you live that way?
